Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lashed out at the Congress, saying those who had ruled the nation for 60 years must give the accountability before asking for his government's 60-day report card.

"Those who are asking for my 60-day report card, they should give their 60 years report card first. I am not accountable to them, but I am accountable to the people of this country," said Prime Minister Modi during his second rally in Maharashtra today.

He also said that the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) were still hand in glove.

"They may be two groups now, but their heart is the same. People now don't want a 'yuti' or alliance, they want a clear majority government," he added.

Taking a jibe at the Congress, Prime Minister Modi said he had read in the newspapers that the leaders of the opposition party are saying that he has taken away Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi from them.

"I don't have the strength to take away Gandhiji from anyone, but it is true that they (Congress) have deserted Gandhiji," he added.

Promising development for the people of Kolhapur, Prime Minister Modi said, "There has been no development in Kolhapur during the Congress rule. Today, the whole country needs the 'Kolhapuri chappal' so that the whole country can move ahead at a fast pace."

The Prime Minister, who addressed a rally in Sangli earlier today and is scheduled to address two more rallies in Gondia and Nashik later in the day, explained that the source of his energy was the blessings of the people.

"The people ask me where do I get my energy from, I say this is my energy, your blessings is my energy," said Prime Minister Modi.

"The people are not worried about me, they are worried about the sea of people at these rallies," he added.

Prime Minister Modi will be touring Maharashtra extensively before the state goes to polls on October 15.
