Composer Benjamin Wallfisch opened up about his inspiration 'Superman' in the 'Shazam!' score.

The director of the film David F Sandberg and Wallfisch have collaborated third time after 2016 'Lights Out' and 2017 'Annabelle: Creation'.

"Dave and I were at dinner when we really dug into the template for what Shazam!'s score would be," Wallfisch told The Hollywood Reporter.

Since, Sandberg was a great fan of 70s and 80s films and their music, specifically 'Superman' and 'Back to the future' which triggered the music behind 'Shazam!'.

He further explained that the character came from the 1940s and so they wanted a score that gives a classic feel as if written some 30 years ago.

For recording the song, a 140-piece orchestra and choir, studio made to honor the classic 1980s scores in London was used.

Wallfisch explained that, "When scoring horror, it's all about the timing and the give and take of tension and release. With Shazam!, there's such subtly to the comedy that mixes in with the adventure aspects."

"It's also a coming of age movie in a way, so there were a lot of elements to balance. We actually have seven main character themes in the film," said Wallfisch.

Wallfisch has earlier worked in Nolan's 'Dunkirk' and Denis Villeneuve's 'Blade Runner 2049'. He was behind the 2017 film 'It's' score.

The film is based on the DC Comics character Shazam. It released on April 5.
