Hero Electric, India's largest manufacturer of electric two wheelers will deploy at least 100 E-bikes at 15 different strategic locations in the national capital to give free ride during odd-even trial run which commences from January 1, 2016.

The initiative will be flagged off by Delhi's Health and Industry Minister Satyendra Kumar Jain and Sohinder Gill, CEO Hero Electric at noon, January 1, 2016 at the Delhi Secretariat.

Each chosen location will have 5-10 Hero E-Bikes with a driver during the rush hour (8 AM - 12 PM & 4 PM TO 8PM) to help commuters reach last mile destinations from a public point such as metro stations or a busy bus terminal for no charge.

Some of the key points that have already been identified for this voluntary service, including metro exit points in Connaught Place, Kendriya Terminal, Jawaharlal Nehru Metro Station, Anand Vihar, Preet Vihar and Rohini etc.

For commuters, it will be easy to identify the service as drivers will be dressed in distinct uniform.

Hero Electric has made it easy for people to book a ride from 1st to 15th Jan 2016 by partnering with Bikemate, which is an application available on android and IOS through which one an request for a free ride in Delhi.

"The idea is to help office goers and general commuters to experience the joy and comfort of zero polluting Electric bikes and also get to know the advantages of switching over to Electric Mobility," said Gill.

Gill also said that Hero Electric may increase the fleet size on duty during odd-even fortnight if there was sufficient demand for its services.

Petrol two wheelers are contributing the maximum to air pollution in Delhi & E bikes are a visible alternative to immediately cut the emission. 1 electric bike reduces 1 tonnes of CO2 in 3 years and it's equal to CO2 reduced by a full grown tree in its life.
