Australian batsman Phil Hughes has said that he has unleashed an Ashes statement five months in the making after posting a magnificent, maiden-double ton against Western Australia in Adelaide.
According to News.com.au, Hughes is up for the long march back to the baggy green and gave selector on duty Rod Marsh some food for thought with an epic 204 on Friday.
Hughes said that the message from selectors was simple, which was to score runs, adding that players really have to make statements and it is not just by getting starts.
He added that Michael Clarke has made some statements in recent times and that is what he wanted to do in this game.
