Students of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Delhi, are protesting outside Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani's residence. The protest is allegedly against the HRD Ministry's de-recognition order.
According to reports, the ministry, in its counter affidavit filed on April 21 in High Court had said that the government has taken steps to have a curb on the issue of recognition. Subsequently, a letter dated December 6, was issued by the ministry.
The letter informed that students who are enrolled with the institutions with permanent recognition up to May 5, 2013 would be eligible for consideration of equivalence in central government jobs.
It is in accordance with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) order pertaining to their course.
