In the light of success received by historic day-night Test , India is all set to play their first ever pink ball match against New Zealand later this year.

Confirming the news, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur said that they have decided to play with pink Kookaburra ball against New Zealand, adding that Duleep Trophy would act as a rehearsal for the Twilight Test match.

"While we have not zeroed in on the venue, there are lots of factors that need to be taken into account.Things like dew factor, how the spinners bowl with the pink Kookaburra on Indian pitches. These things we will get an idea (of) during the Duleep Trophy," Thakur was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Earlier, South Africa's Players Association had expressed their reluctance to play a day-night Test during their 2016-17 tour of Australia, saying that the players might face difficulty in playing due to their inexperience with the pink ball in night conditions.

Last year, Australia and New Zealand had played the inaugural day-night Test at the Adelaide Oval, which went on to pull record number of crowds and huge television viewership.
