Indian film 'Priest' among 2015 sH2Orts finalists

The finalists for the sH2Orts 2015 film competition have been announced and Indian film 'Priest' by Devdatt Manjrekar has been shortlisted.

The 28-year-old filmmaker from India is one of 21 people worldwide to be shortlisted in WaterAid and Worldview's international film competition, sH2Orts.

Devdatt's film was a bold call to establish rituals that save water and was chosen from the diverse range of films that were submitted by budding filmmakers from 35 different countries across the globe, ranging from Nepal to Nigeria and Brazil to Bangladesh.

The Indian filmmaker said that there was a pressing need to re-evaluate ancient rituals with new eyes and rethink them to suit the needs of the present and his film brought to light the changing world and begs people to look within and recognize the urgent need to save the resources.

A panel of esteemed judges who work across the film industry will decide the overall winners. The panel of judges consists of 'Downton Abbey' star and WaterAid ambassador Hugh Bonneville; Indian film director, actor and producer Shekhar Kapur; British director and filmmaker Philip Bloom; British director Gurinder Chadha, Nigerian filmmaker Jeta Amata: and Head of Documentaries at the Guardian, Charlie Phillips.
