The Indian Railways will soon reduce the running time of about 700 long distance trains.
The railways are plying to improve the running time of multiple trains by ten minute to two hours.
"Indian railways in coming November will improve the running time of about 700 long distance trains by speeding them up.
The running time will be reduced by 10 mins-2 hrs," a source said.
"Out of these, around 50 Mail and Express trains will be upgraded to the Super-fast category with a substantial increase in their speed," the source added.
The new "innovative timetabling" will also provide each railway division two to four hours for maintenance work.
The rearrangements have been made under the guidance of recently appointed Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.
