Reiterating her party's stand over government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leader Ambika Soni on Wednesday alleged the ideological compromise made by the PDP and BJP to come to power now stands exposed.

"The Congress has the same stand as before. We knew from the beginning that the two parties, which have come together, have completely contrasting views from each other. But they made compromises to come to power and now they are realising this. We want the government to form. We are waiting and watching," she told ANI.

She further stated that the Congress was not in a position to form the government as only 12 MLAs of the party emerged victorious in the assembly polls held last year.

"Only 12 of our MLAs won because of which we cannot form the government. But those who claimed to form the government had a deal for five years, but I don't know what confidence building measures are they talking about now after the unfortunate demise of Mufti Sahab. Why weren't these things decided earlier? Asking this question is our right," she added.

The stalemate over government formation in the state is continuing for the past four weeks after the demise of PDP patron and former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra had earlier asked both the BJP and PDP to clear their stand on the government formation.
