YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday met Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) General Secretary Prakash Karat over the government's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.

"We have requested Prakash Karat once again to stand up against this injustice being done to the state. The bill is being introduced in the house without the consent of the assembly. The state too is unwilling and the bifurcation is being done forcefully on the whims and fancies of the central government," said Jagan after the meeting.

Questioning the way the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill was tabled in the Parliament, Jagan said, "The way the bill was introduced in the parliament was undemocratic. The entire episode of tabling the bill was finished in ten minutes."

Jagan also asserted that it is essential that the entire opposition have to stand against this bill and warned that tomorrow this might happen to other states too.

Supporting Jagan's cause, Karat said, "We cannot accept the government's claim that the bill was tabled in the house. This is not done. There was trouble in the house and the government has used it to see that the bill gets tabled."

"The Opposition cannot accept this. We have said this earlier also that this bill is a serious matter and it should be fully discussed in the parliament," he added.

Karat also emphasized that every party and every MP has a right to express their view.
