The election campaign that began here with war of words between the two heavy weight candidates from the Congress Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now turned personal.
BJP candidate Arun Jaitley on Monday told Capt. Amarinder Singh to check his facts before speaking.
On Sunday, Capt. Amarinder Singh had asked Jaitley whether he would be giving up his legal practice in the Supreme Court of India for which he requires to be in Delhi.
Amarinder in his statement had said, "As far as I know you charge Rs 15 lakhs per appearance. So people of Amritsar would like to know from you that in case you get elected from here will you shift your base to this place and give up such a lucrative business in Delhi."
Countering Amarinder's point, Jaitley in his statement stated that he has stopped practicing five years ago when he became the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and gave up his 'lucrative' practice at that time and had even suspended his professional license.
He also suggested that Amarinder to check his facts, and said: "The Captain is intoxicated about himself. He does not check up facts.
