Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Monday lashed out at Congress-led UPA Government over its failure to curb increasing rate of unemployment, poverty and corruption in the country.

Addressing a rally in Kolkata, she criticized the central government, saying its schemes to decrease burden on the common man has failed.

"As far as there is a question of eradicating poverty and unemployment from the country, the government-sponsored schemes have failed to achieve their objectives in the state and no improvement has been shown," said Mayawati.

She also launched an attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and said that if Modi comes to power, the country would be 'forever gripped' in riots.

BSP supremo also highlighted failures of the UPA Government, saying steps taken to tackle corruption did not show results.

"Since last few years corruption has risen in the country and even your own state has not been spared. And apart from this, the new laws and rules formulated by the central and state government to tackle corruption have failed to show any effect," Mayawati added.

The BSP supremo has been touring extensively to reach out to the voters in different states of the country ahead of the upcoming elections.
