Vishram Jamdar, who is likely to be announced as the chairman of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) by the HRD ministry, clarified on Friday that he has not put any pressure on the ministry for his appointment, and added that being a RSS swayamsevak he has got nothing to do with his appointment as the chairman.
"I am not denying that I am a 'RSS swayamsevak'. There is no question of putting pressure because I was in the Board of Governors of the VNIT from 2002 to 2012," Jamdar told ANI.
"It could be because of the work I did during that period that this recognition has been given to me. I, being a swayamsevak, shouldn't be linked to this. I am also a student of this college and now I have the opportunity to repay by working for it in future," he added.
As per reports, Jamdar had earlier written a letter to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani, seeking the post of the VNIT chairman with the reminder that he is a 'RSS person'.
