James Cameron has revealed that the sequel to his hit movie 'Avatar' has been delayed to 2017.

The 'Titanic' helmer, who is working on three new 'Avatar' films simultaneously, asserted that there is a layer of complexity in getting the story to work as a saga across three films, the BBC reported.

The Academy Award winning director continued that they are writing three simultaneously and they have done that so that everything tracks throughout the three films.

The 60-year-old helmer added that with parallel to that they are doing all the design.

The three films will be shot in New Zealand, where some of the original film was also made.

'Avatar' is the highest-grossing film in history, with box office takings of almost 2.8 billion dollars.
