Australian fast bowler James Pattinson has said that the return of Test bowling coach Craig McDermott is a fantastic development ahead of the return Ashes series.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the man pulling the strings in the background as Pattinson, Ben Hilfenhaus and Peter Siddle dominated that summer was Australia's bowling coach Craig McDermott.
It will not come as a shock then that the 23-year-old Victorian has welcomed McDermott back to the post after an 18-month hiatus, this time to focus purely on Australia's Test team, the report said.
Pattinson is recovering from a stress fracture of the back that sidelined him early in the Ashes campaign in England in the winter, and has identified a possible return in the third Test in Perth in December, the report added.
After benefiting from McDermott's tutelage last time around, principally an instruction to bowl full, he said on Friday he was excited the association had been renewed, the report further said.
Pattinson said that McDermott was very good at what he does and he had done a great job with them during the Indian series in which he had made his debut, adding that it was fantastic to have him back in the fold and he kept a pretty close friendship with him since the last time the bowler was in the squad.
The bowler added that the big thing about McDermott was that he had a good mentality for fast bowling who did not let players off the guard and was always at their case, adding that it was fantastic from a fast bowling point of view.
