The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday said former union minister Jayanthi Natarajan's revelations reflect the pathetic condition the Congress party is in today.

"All facts revealed by Jayanthi Natarajan are astonishing and it reflects what pathetic condition Congress is in today," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

"It is a mind boggling revelation that she was forced by Congress leadership to speak against Prime Minister Narendra Modiji, it reflects Congress's mindset," he added.

A miffed Congress had earlier termed Natarajan's press conference and letter to party President Sonia Gandhi as an 'image bachao abhiyaan'.

Terming the allegations made by Natarajan as false, senior Congress and former law minister M. Veerappa Moily stated that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi never interfered in the functioning of any ministry.

Earlier in the day, Natarajan, in a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, stated she was quitting the party, citing 'political interference' and alleging that she received 'specific requests' from Rahul Gandhi on environmental clearances.

Natrajan later told the media that the Congress was no longer the party that she had joined thirty years ago.

She further alleged that she had resigned as the environment minister on the orders of party president Sonia Gandhi, but later media speculations made her feel vilified.
