Johnny Depp has revealed that religion is like a fascinating black hole for him.
While talking about why he took up the role of a mad scientist in sci-fi thriller 'Transcendence', the versatile actor explained that he was fascinated by the correlation between technology and power, MVP Entertainment India reported.
The idea that a guy who is able to download his sentient being into a machine can become god, or a version of god was enough to get him sign up for the film, he said.
Depp will play an artificial intelligence researcher who strives to create a machine that possesses sentience and collective intelligence, in the film.
His upcoming movie, which is helmed by cinematographer Wally Pfister and produced by Christopher Nolan, will hit Indian theaters on April 18, 2014.
