Actress Anjali Patil, who plays the role of Malko in 'Newton', the official entry for Oscars 2018 from India, feels that the journey to the golden statuette has just begun.

When asked how hopeful she is about the selection, Anjali told ANI, "Honestly, I feel 'Newton' would be the best film in this year, if we talk about the Indian cinema. I think it's our best chance to get into the Oscars. All of that is part of the journey, it's just begun."

Talking about what the Amit Masurkar-directorial stands for, she said, "'Newton' is about many things; the attitude that we carry within us, whether it's a Naxal influenced area, whether it's a city like Mumbai or Delhi, it's about education, it's about government officers, the system. So the film talks about a lot many things in a very subtle way, not even with the slightest intention to preach, that's why it's a black comedy."

The recently-released black comedy film is India's official entry to the 90th Academy Awards ceremony in the Foreign Language Film category.

Earlier on Friday, Rajkummar, who plays the lead role in 'Newton', took to social media to share the news.

He tweeted, "Very happy to share this news that #NEWTON is India's official entry to the #OSCARS this year. Congratulations team."

As soon as the news spread, social media was flooded with congratulatory messages for the team.

Here is what the Bollywood stars tweeted:
