It seems like Darren Aronofsky's 'mother!' is not quite done being the "most controversial movie of the year".

A new poster for the Jennifer Lawrence film landed online Friday seeking to capitalize on the polarizing nature of the Darren Aronofsky project.

But, the poster created more controversy due to the depiction of Lawrence's bruised face.

The social media was left terrified with the poster using an image of an abused woman as a marketing tool.

Some of the reactions to the poster were:

A user tweeted, "How studios choose to market the world's most famous actress. This needs to stop."

"How about don't use the abused face of a woman to advertise your movie? this is gross," wrote another user.

"Why, release that horrendous mother poster after at least three good ones have already been used," wrote a user.

Meanwhile, another user showed his displeasure by writing, "The new mother! poster looks like those ads for domestic abuse charities, so maybe they should, indeed, not!"

'mother!' is just one of 19 films to earn a dreaded "F" grade from CinemaScore, alongside other box office underperformers 'The Wicker Man', 'The Box' and 'Killing Them Softly'.

Yesterday, Director Darren Aronofsky defended the movie against notorious "F" grade which his latest film has received from CinemaScore.

He said, "What's interesting about that is, like, how if you walk out of this movie are you not going to give it an 'F?' It's a punch. It's a total punch."

The film also stars Javier Bardem, Domhnall Gleeson, Ed Harris, Kristen Wiig, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Brian Gleeson in pivotal roles.
