An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi, Pakistan, has placed four suspects who were arrested in connection with the last week's Karachi bus attack that killed 45 minority Shi'ite Ismailis in physical police remand for 14 days.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said on Wednesday that police had arrested four members of a terrorists group who had confessed their involvement in the bus attack, and to the April 24 killing of rights activist Sabin Mahmud and several police personnel in Karachi.
The names of the detained suspects are Saad Aziz alias John, Minhas alias Sain Nazir alias Mota-matriculate and Hafiz Nasir.
Shah said Aziz, a BBA (bachelor of business administration) graduate, was the mastermind behind the assassination of Sabeen Mahmud.
Shah also said the outfit to which the arrested persons belonged was also behind the armed attack on American national Debra Lobo and suicide attack on a Brigadier of the Pakistan Rangers Sindh, and targeted killings of police officials.
He said a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) would be formed to find out the name of the extremist group involved in these attacks.
