Kate Hudson is set to star in Summit Entertainment and Participant Media's BP Oil Spill film 'Deepwater Horizon.'
The Peter Berg directed film, which has also added Kurt Russell and John Malkovich to the cast, will see Hudson play wife to Mark Wahlberg's lead character, Deadline.com reported.
It would be a first time for the actress, 36, to star with her adopted father Russell.
The film, which also stars Gina Rodriguez and Dylan O'Brien, is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, and David Womark. Script was penned by Matthew Carnahan.
The story is based on the New York Times article "Deepwater Horizon's Final Hour," which highlights one of the biggest man-made disasters in world history, and would show the bravery of workers on the oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico when it blew up, killing 11 and injuring 16 others on April 20, 2010.
The movie is slated for September, 2016 release.
