Pakistan Army generals are still upset after they were 'unfairly criticised' by federal ministers.

The resentment in the military ranks was seen as generals met for the corps commanders' conference at the General Headquarters on Wednesday.

According to Dawn News, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, who presided over the meeting, earlier this week had reportedly said while the army will uphold the sanctity of all institutions, it will resolutely preserve its own dignity and institutional pride.

Officials suggested that the army chief's statement might be aimed at pacifying the anger within the institution over the treason trial of former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf and the government's peace initiative with the Taliban.

General Sharif's remarks are also aimed at what is being seen as Mushrraf's public humiliation by some ministers.

The generals are also said to be displeased with the manner in which the government has proceeded with the peace dialogue despite their reservations.

An officer, who witnessed the proceedings of the Corps Commanders Conference, said that the intensity of the feelings on the issue remained high.
