Manchester City is in talks over a 46 million pound deal to sign Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando before the transfer window closes at 11 p.m. Friday.
Mangala is City's No.1 target and they are prepared to fork out 38 million pounds to sign the 22-year-old centre-half.
City believes that Mangala can form a formidable defensive pairing with skipper Vincent Kompany.
They are aware that neighbours Manchester United and French champions Paris Saint-Germain are also keen to sign the centre-half, Mirror.co.uk reports.
City is also interested in Mangala's team-mate Fernando; a defensive midfielder nicknamed 'The Octopus' because of his leggy playing style.
Fernando is also on United's radar.
