Former England cricketer Martyn Moxon believes that Joe Root will be an 'ideal' captain to lead the national team in the foreseeable future.
Root, who averages 57.11 after 29 Test matches, struck an unbeaten 182 runs in England's recent nine-wicket win over the West Indies.
Moxon, the Yorkshire director of cricket, said that Root has all the skills required for the role, and would be for a sustained period of time when he would assume the captaincy responsibility.
Describing Root as an 'ideal' England captain, Moxon said that the right-handed batsman captained Yorkshire at the end of last season in the absence of Andrew Gale and had done a fantastic job, the BBC reported.
Root, who made his international debut during the 2012-13 tour of India, has also played 54 one-day internationals and nine T20s.
Moxon said that Root is capable of being a successful player in all three forms of the game - and as captain - for the foreseeable future.
