Formula One will see a later start to the 2016 season as the season-opening Australian Grand Prix has been scheduled for April 3.
The move to push back the race two weeks will mean the latest start to a Formula 1 season since 1988, when the Brazilian GP also started on the same date.
Moreover, organisers of the race in Melbourne's Albert Park confirmed that the event would have an earlier start for the race than recently, the BBC reported.
The move has also been made in a bid to compress the F1 calendar and reportedly to pack in more races into the calendar.
The current season has noticeable gaps between race, including three weeks time between the most recent race in Bahrain and the next in Spain on 10 May.
