Situation in Meerut after yesterday's group clashes is tense but under control.
However, two shops were reportedly gutted in Khandaq Bazar in an attempt of arson by a mob last night which the security forces doused and controlled the situation immediately.
The police and security forces are maintaining strict vigil in the troubled areas.
Besides, heavy deployment of RAF, CRPF and PAC has been made all around the city to maintain peace and harmony.
At least four persons had sustained injuries after a clash broke out between members of two communities in Meerut yesterday.
The incident occurred during the installation of a water cooler near a mosque in the Teergaran area. A group of locals opposed the setting up of the cooler which led to a confrontation.
