Melissa Rivers has broken her silence for the first time since her mother Joan Rivers' funeral in New York.

The 'Fashion Police' producer said that as she and her son Cooper mourn the loss of her mother, they are thankful for the "kindness and support" they have received through beautiful cards, flowers conveying heartfelt messages and condolences, People Magazine reported.

She added that her mother would have been overwhelmed by the scope and depth of the love that people have expressed for her. It is certainly helping to lift our spirits during this time.
