The filmmakers of 'Midnight Rider' have been charged with involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespass for the death of 27-year-old camera assistant Sarah Elizabeth Jones in February.
Filmmakers Randall Miller, Jody Savin and Jay Sedrish have been charged for the death of Jones on February 20, when she was struck by a freight train on the tracks of the Doctortown train trestle while filming a scene for the Gregg Allman biopic Midnight Rider, produced by Unclaimed Freight Productions Inc, Deadline.com reported.
According to the Georgia law, a person facing a manslaughter charge could be sentenced to 10 years in prison, while criminal trespass is a misdemeanor and carries potential sentence of one year.
Jones parents had filed a wrongful death suit against Miller, Savin and Sedrish, claiming that the filmmakers "operated without minimum safety precautions and contrary to standard industry practices for productions of this scale and for productions involving dangerous filming conditions".
