Mirza-Hingis storm into Rogers Cup quarters

Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis produced a sublime performance as they marched into the quarter-finals of the women's doubles event at Rogers Cup in Toronto on Friday.

The Indo-Swiss pair thrashed the Briton-American pair of Naomi Broady and Shelby Rogers 6-1, 6-1 in the one-sided third round contest that lasted just 43 minutes.

Mirza and Hingis will next face the American duo of Christina Mchale and Asia Muhammad in the last eight enocunter.

Meanwhile, in the men's doubles event, Rohan Bopanna and his new partner Jean-Julien Rojer suffered a major blow as they were knocked out of the tournament after going down 6-1, 6-4 against the Czech Republic pair of Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek.
