Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis lost the chance to win their 14th title as they suffered defeat in the finals of the Stuttgart Open here in Germany.
The Indo-Swiss pair failed to capitalize on their first set victory and were beaten 6-2, 1-6, 6-10 by the French pair of Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.
Mirza and Hingis were looking to clinch their first title since February, but the second seeded French Pair pulled off a stunning win to upset the Australian Open champions.
Earlier, the top-ranked pair had made a second-round exit at the Miami Masters following their first straight-set loss at the Indian Wells since the summer of 2015.
