Rohit Sharma's record third double hundred guided India to register a 141-run victory over Sri Lanka to tie the three-match series at 1-1 here at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium on Wednesday.

While becoming the first player on the globe to surpass the 200-run mark 'three times' in one-day internationals (ODIs), Rohit took India to a big total of 392 at the loss of four wickets in the given overs.

Rohit slammed 13 fours and 12 sixes enroute 208 off 153 balls.

After being asked to bat first in the serious-saviour match, Rohit was well backed by fifties coming from opening partner Shikhar Dhawan and youngster Shreyas Iyer.

While MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya departed cheaply for seven and eight respectively, Rohit remained uprooted till the last over.

Chasing a mammoth score of 393 runs to win the series, Sri Lanka lost early wickets.

Angelo Mathews played the lone hand of 111 as the visitors could manage only 251 runs in the given 50 overs.

For India, Yuzvendra Chahal grabbed three wickets while commencing 60 runs, whereas paceman Jasprit Bumrah picked up two.

Debutant Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya claimed one wicket apiece.

Sachith Pathirana took one wicket, while Thisara Perera chipped in three for the Lankan Lions.
