Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has reportedly given the thumbs up sign lying in his hospital bed in a Twitter picture, indicating that he is recovering properly from his minor back surgery.

The British number one had announced that he had decided to have an operation to sort out a disc problem in his lower back that has been bothering him for most of this year, making it unlikely to play again this year and miss the last four tournaments of the season in Asia, Paris and the World Tour Finals in London.

According to Sport24, the Scot, who will aim to regain full fitness in time to begin his preparations for next year in early November, posted the photo of him lying in a hospital bed with both thumbs up along with a message thanking his well-wishers.

Murray's back problem had a resurgence in May during the Rome Masters, prompting him to pull out of the French Open, with the report saying that with careful dealing of the problem, Murray went on to Wimbledon glory in July

Providing all has run smoothly with his surgery, Murray should be back on court and targeting the Australian Open in January, before returning to Davis Cup duty at the end of the month when Leon Smith's Great Britain team face the United States, the report added.
