England batsman Kevin Pietersen has said that the controversial Hot Spot had an 'absolute stinker' during the Ashes series, which England won 3-0, although he acknowledged that players remain supportive of the technology.

The Decision Review System (DRS) was heavily criticised during the series by both the sides, with Hot Spot's infra-red imaging falling under particular scrutiny after a number of inaccurate decisions.

According to News.com.au, Pietersen also came under special scrutiny after a report claimed that he used silicone tape in a bid to prevent Hot Spot from detecting when the ball had hit his bat.

Stating that the Hot Spot had an 'absolute stinker' this summer, Pietersen reiterated his innocence over the silicon taping report, saying that he had used the same strapping on his bat since 1995, adding that like every other cricketer in the world, he too uses fibreglass tape on his bat.

However, Pietersen claimed that he was not bothered by the allegations as he was focusing on the Ashes at that time, although he added that despite the controversy over the technology, it still has the support of most players.
