A new study has found that nearly 24 percent of advertisements on Facebook are for counterfeit goods.

According to Mashable, the study was conducted by two cybersecurity researchers who studied more than a thousand Facebook ads and found that almost a quarter of them were for counterfeit items such as Ray Bay sunglasses, Louis Vuitton bags, and Ralph Lauren polo shirts.

The researchers warned that Facebook users were likely to be tricked by the convincingly real looking websites that made them believe they were buying real products.

Andrea Stroppa, one of the researchers reportedly said that in many cases, customers' credit card was at risk, as obscure payment systems backed by companies was a good cover for fraudsters.
