The BJP-led NDA government on Thursday hiked the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs. 1.50 per litre.
Excise duty on normal or unbranded petrol has been hiked from Rs 1.20 to Rs 2.70 per litre, while the excise duty on branded petrol has been hiked from Rs 2.35 to Rs 3.85 per litre .
Akash Jindal, a market expert, dubbed the government's move to be incorrect.
"The decision for increasing the excise duty on petrol and diesel was wrong. It will increase the inflation and the common man will suffer," he said.
