South Africa coach Russell Domingo has confirmed the appointment of former batsman Neil McKenzie as the Proteas' batting consultant on a short-term basis.
According to Sport24, the 40-year-old would remain with the team until the completion of next month's ICC World Twenty20 Cup to be played in India.
Jubilant with McKenzie's appointment, Domingo said that Australia were delighted to have him in the team and revealed that they were trying to appoint him from a long time.
Domingo insisted that the former opening batsman had played a lot of cricket both locally and overseas, adding that he was able to develop a good relationship with the players over the years.
McKenzie, who retired from top-level cricket last month, also appeared in recently-concluded Masters Champions League in Dubai, which is aimed at giving retired players a chance to take the field again.
