Out of all the senses, vision is the most delightful one, Helen Keller once said. What many don't realize is that diabetes, one of the most common lifestyle diseases, can cause blindness.

With an urge to build this information gap, Dr. Nishant Kumar, distinguished ophthalmologist, is leading a new initiative, 'Eyebetes' to raise awareness about the correlation between diabetes and blindness. This drive is initiated in association with Lalbaugcha Raja and will give the pilgrims an opportunity to get themselves screened for diabetic changes in their eyes free of cost. For this wonderful initiative, God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar has lent his unconditional support.

"More often than not, we take our body and health for granted and believe that nothing can go wrong. And then when you realize you were wrong, it could be really late. Most of the people don't know that around 40 lakh people have lost their eyesight due to diabetes. 'Eyebetes' is a wonderful initiative and there couldn't be a better place to create awareness about this than our favorite Ganapati at Lalbaugcha Raja. This year, I would request all of you to visit Lalbaugcha Raja and seek Bappa's healthy blessings at the Eyebetes camp. I wish the entire team all the very best for this noble initiative", Sachin stated.

Eyebetes intends to screen around 15,000 devotees every day during the entire Ganapati festival. Strengthened by a team of experts and state-of-the-art technology, this peculiar initiative is the first of its kind in India.

This drive will be conducted from 2nd to 13th September at Lalbaugcha Raja where thousands of devotees descend every year.
