Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah's heroics has put India on the cusp of victory on the fourth day of the third Test at Trent Bridge on Sunday, with the visitors one England dismissal away from recording one their most famous test wins.

Bumrah took five wickets as England finished at 311 runs for the loss of nine wickets at stumps on Day 4. He ended a crucial 169-run stand between Jos Buttler (106) and Ben Stokes (62) by trapping Buttler in front of the wicket.

Apart from Buttler, the right armer took the wickets of Jonny Bairstow, Captain Joe Root, Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad.

India had appeared to be on their way to a thumping victory when the hosts slumped to 62-4 before lunch. However, they recovered to 173-4 at tea, with Buttler batting on 67 and Stokes unbeaten on 42.

Buttler produced his maiden century after being dropped on 1 by debutant wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

Adil Rashid and Stuart Broad's ninth-wicket stand of 50 runs kept India waiting, but once Bumrah got his fifth scalp, the end for the hosts appeared near. However, India is now a wicket away from victory, with the match being pushed to the fifth day owing to Rashid's plucky 30.

England lead the five-match series 2-0.
