YouTube has officially released a new update that makes the video player on its Web interface transparent.
According to the Next Web, the new video player is sleeker and features controls floating on the video itself instead of planted underneath. The redesign also saves a few vertical pixels of screen real estate.
The controls disappear after a few seconds of inactivity and reappear once again when the users point their mouse to the bottom of the video again. Playlists still appear to the right of videos.
Also, the new look applies to embedded content as well.
YouTube confirmed that the update is available globally and the new design shows up across a variety of browsers, Chrome, Firefox and Edge all feature the revamped look, even on mobile.
YouTube began testing the new player back in April but was limited to a few selected users.
