The Naga Students' Union Delhi (NSUD) recently celebrated the 50th year of its existence in the national capital with enthusiasm and gaiety.
A large number of Nagas from the northeast gathered at the Thyagaraj Complex to mark 50 years of living in Delhi. The main theme of the event, where pictures were put up, was "Pause, Rewind and Play".
The NSUD was established in 1963. During the event, a group of students performed a harmony dance in their colorful attires and mesmerized the audience.
"NSUD is one of the biggest and most recognized student's body in Delhi and we realized that it is because of the efforts and sacrifice made by the former executives, and we wanted to honour them. I am happy that many people from Nagaland and Manipur have turned up," said Lhusisato Iralu, President, NSUD
'Inspiration Awards' were also given to some Naga achievers in recognition of their work in different fields.
"Organization like NSUD is very important organization. As we already listened to them everybody spoke very well and this is the way to go that everybody unite together and work together," added Dr. Aryo Shishak, first president, NSUD
An eight-year-old girl Lallan from Manipur enthralled the audience with her melodious voice. She was recently selected for the TV show "India Got Talent".
During the event, the Soulmate band from Shillong also rocked the audience. "Polar Lights", a band of young musicians from Nagaland, also performed at the event.
"I am very happy that NSUD inviting us, supporting us. It is a big honour for us. I never expected to see many people enjoying and singing along with us that was very good. I had a great time," said Rudy Wallang, guitarist, Soulmate band, Meghalaya.
Such events provide a platform to people from different communities and tribes from the Northeast get together and bond.
