On Tuesday morning, the LoC saw its seventh ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops when they open fired on forward areas in Poonch district, which prompted the Indian Army to retaliate.
The multiple violations along the LoC, come soon after Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh met his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Both leaders had decided to clam down on the tensions along the border by tasking the DGMOs of both Armies, and asked them to meet and chalk out a constructive strategy to maintain peace along the LoC.
