In an exclusive interview to Asian News International, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Kapil Sibal on Tuesday said that though the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party could not be discounted in the lead up to the 2014 General Elections, the party would not feature in the future of Delhi.
""You must understand that any party that comes into the fray cannot be disregarded, no matter what we think about any political party, There are independents who win in an election, do we give them credence at the time of the election.," Sibal said.
"There are several factors that come into play when people win elections, so it is not as if we should brush aside the Aam Aadmi Party. but it is also not as if the Aam Aadmi Party is the future of Delhi," he added.
Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party have been targeting the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government, which has been ruling Delhi for the past three terms.
The Model Code of Conduct has come into force in five states, including Delhi, going for the assembly polls.
Voters in all the five states of Delhi, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will for the first time have the choice of 'None of the above option' to reject the candidates contesting the election in a constituency.
Delhi will go to polls on December 4, while counting of votes in all the states will take place on 8th of December.
