Acting Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has hailed Mohammad Hafeez for 'setting a good precedent' and 'showing courage' by taking responsibility for the team's shortcomings following their World Twenty20 exit.

Hafeez had reportedly stepped down from the position of Pakistan's Twenty20 captain following the team's failure to qualify for the semi-finals of the ICC World T20 in Bangladesh.

According to the Express Tribune, Sethi dismissed the reaction to the team's performance in Bangladesh as 'too strong', citing examples of how people in Australia and England reacted even though their teams had lost too, saying that they are in the fifth position as compared to countries like Australia, England and New Zealand.

Sethi, however blamed the captaincy, the selection, and the coaching for the poor performance and pointed out fitness and fielding as some of the major weaknesses of the team, although he defended the previous team selection, saying that at that time, the management thought it was a good choice of players.
