The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly considering former Test player Mushtaq Ahmed, who has been involved with the England cricket team for the past two years as their spin-bowling coach, for a key post at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Ahmed has not only worked closely with the England team but has also been involved in their high-performance centre programmes, helping both seniors and youngsters to produce better results.

According to the Express Tribune, the former leg-spinner also held a meeting with top officials of the PCB recently in Lahore to discuss the nature of his proposed job, with a top official saying that Ahmed is likely to get a top post in the NCA as the PCB has been keen on bringing him in their new setup.

The official further said that Ahmed was a top quality bowler during his playing days and now has excelled as a spin-bowling coach with England, adding that he is a coach of a proven pedigree at the highest level and as such, his 'coup' would be a big boost for the NCA and Pakistan.

The PCB is undergoing a reshuffle where redundant staff has been shown the door while fresh faces, who are considered capable of making a genuine difference in Pakistan cricket, are being welcomed, the report added.
