Manchester United manager Manuel Pellegrini has signed a new contract extension that will keep him at the Premier League club until 2017.

Pellegrini's original deal was due to expire next year, but the 61-year-old will now remain in charge of the 2013-14 Premier League champions for the next two seasons.

Pellegrini said that he was proud to manage City, adding that he had a very quality group of players and a great team of people to work with on and off the field and at all levels of the club, the BBC reported.

City will kick start their new Premier League season against West Brom on Monday.
