Perrie Edwards's mother has apparently hit back at Zayn Malik's fans, who called the 'Little Mix' star, the reason behind the One Direction singer's exit.

Debbie Edwards, whose daughter has been engaged to the singer for two years, claimed that this was his decision and had nothing to do with the 'Wings' hit-maker, reports The Mirror.

The 21-year-old singer came under fire on Twitter after her 22-year-old fiance left the boyband in March amid cheating rumours.

Insisting that the couple's relationship is stronger than ever, the 'DNA' singer's mother said they have always been happy, and added that Malik is one of the nicest boys she has ever met.

Earlier, Malik had claimed that he left the band to live a "normal 22-year-old's" life.
