Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted his counterpart Nawaz Sharif on the occasion of Pakistan's National Day and called for a bilateral dialogue between New Delhi and Islamabad in a terror and violence free atmosphere.
"I have written to Pakistan PM Mr. Nawaz Sharif, conveying my greetings on the National Day of Pakistan," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
"It is my firm conviction that all outstanding issues can be resolved through bilateral dialogue in an atmosphere free from terror and violence," he added in another tweet.
Pakistan's National Day is held to commemorate the Lahore Resolution, which was introduced at a Muslim League convention in Lahore on March 23, 1940, and passed the following day.
The day also signifies the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan during the transition of the Dominion of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
