Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his best wishes to the people of Goa on the occasion of their Liberation Day, while recalling all those who dedicated their lives to the movement for achieving a free Goa.
The Prime Minister took to twitter to extend his wishes.
"On Goa Liberation Day I convey my best wishes to people of Goa. We remember all those who dedicated their lives to the movement to free Goa," Prime Minister Modi wrote.
The Goa liberation movement was a movement that sought to end 451 years of Portuguese colonial rule in Goa.
The struggle was conducted both within Goa and beyond, and was characterised by a range of tactics, including non-violent demonstrations, revolutionary methods and diplomatic efforts.
