The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday predicted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the top performing leader in 2015, adding that his work has been appreciated across the world after being in office for just over 200 days.
The BJP expressed this belief on the backdrop of Japanese market research firm GMO Research reportedly naming the Prime Minister at number two amongst the 30 top-performing world leaders.
"Prime Minister Modi has been in office for only [a few] months and in such a short period of time, he has shot to number two [on the list]. When the next list is created, he will be a very clear number one," party spokesperson MJ Akbar told ANI.
"Prime Minister Modi and his vision of taking the country forward, his vision for the SAARC nations and his vision for South-East Asia is something which has caught the imagination, which has caught the eyes of the world," BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra added.
The survey assessed more than 26,000 respondents before rating Prime Minister Modi as the second most performing leader, just behind Chinese President Xi Jinping. The third position in the list was given to German chancellor Angela Merkel.
