Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took to social networking site twitter to pay his tributes to former prime minister Indira Gandhi on her 97th birth anniversary today.
"I join my fellow countrymen and women in remembering our former PM Smt. Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary. My tributes," the Prime Minister tweeted.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi earlier in the day offered floral tributes to Indira Gandhi at her memorial in Shakti Sthal.
President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and former prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh also offered floral tributes to India's first and only woman prime minister today.
A series of functions have also been organized today to highlight contribution of Indira Gandhi in nation building.
